In March 2018, the director Herman Yau held the press conference with the casting of The Leakers. It was the first time to show the poster and trailer on set. Yau mentioned the primary reason for him to shoot this film, “many secrets have been disclosing frequently in the news. With the rapid development of technologies, it becomes easier for people to reveal secrets. I’m interested in different kinds of secrets, so I created this story.”
